Michael Potter – Bronze at Nationals
Congratulations to Michael Potter and all the other NSCC U23 riders who rode so strongly at the U23 Road Race at the National Road Race at Mt Buningyong today.
Michael stood out in a quality field – against many World Pro Tour team riders – winning the bronze medal.
The race was fiercely contested and took its toll with the peloton splitting into several bunches as the pace was electric.
Michael led the chasing bunch to bridge across to the two man break and had enough left in the legs to outsprint the quality field to take the bronze.
It was indeed fitting that Michael’s parents – Anne and Ray – were there to witness his finest moment.
Tom Green, Angus Calder and Harrison Bailey were all in the mix and acquitted themselves really well. Dan Newman was another debutant at the Nationals and will have learned a lot from racing at the top level.
All these riders can be very proud of their efforts and should be congratulated for giving their best
Thanks to Mad Dog for the race details and the photos
